Room Views

...So it's just a waiting game from here on out, ehh?  How long will the wait be?  I wonder.  In the meantime I have some fun pics to post of today.  And as of today, Lena's room has functional furniture in it and is mostly organized!  We still have to hang some things on the walls and such but that's easy, all the hard stuff is DONE.

here is me, 38 weeks in:

And here is Mike getting ready to put together a crib:

Here are some pics of the room once the furniture was built and put where it's going to go!  Nothing on the walls yet (except an awesome tree, of course)...  more organizing and hanging some pictures up is tomorrow's job.

This first pic is the view from the hallway into Lena's room:

Here is one looking into Lena's room from the the door shown above, the door of our bedroom:
The closed door shown above is a closet with "LENA" spelled out in cool crocheted letters by a friend :-)  and the open door is the door to the hallway, where I was standing to take the previous picture.

And here is one last touch over by the window.  I don't know if you can tell, but the picture in the frame is Mike and I :

YAY!!  THE ROOM IS just about READY!
and we are too.
The End.

The World Cup

Hello everyone.

Happy June 22!   Not that it's a special holiday or anything... unless your a Philadelphia teacher, then June 22 is the first official day of SUMMER VACATION.  Ahhhhh, what a wonderful thing!   Mike's been absent from blog pics for awhile, so here's one of how he spent his first hard-earned day of summer break:

Hehehehe, just kidding, this was only his position for about 15 minutes after working for 3 hours in the HOT sun at our community garden.  But either way, it's summer for the Roths and that's AWESOME.  Our other summer plans may or may not include: swimming, becoming parents, sleeping in (haha, i know, not for long!), putting together some furniture and baby equipment, grilling, wearing my regular non-maternity clothes, entertaining lots of visitors (please come), making sure The Patch doesn't eat Lena (he won't, don't worry), and generally figuring out how to live as a family of 3.5 instead of 2.5 (dogs = .5 in these calculations).   So that's the story.

Here is me today:

I know, I know, I'm small.  Sorry.  There's nothing I can do about it.  I've been drinking all the milkshakes I can, really.  Yes, she really is due in less than 3 weeks.  Yes, I'm sure of it.  and the sooner she shows up, the better.  I'm in the stage of being uncomfortable about 97.2% of every day.... and that includes sleeping.  I wake up each morning feeling like I was run over by the annoying ice cream truck that drives up and down our street all the live long day.   And speaking of all-the-live-long-day, that's also how often Lena kicks me and makes other nausea-inducing motions from inside of my stomach, all the live long day.   As we are currently watching as much World Cup soccer as possible, we think she must be preparing to join the US national team in about 20 years... and let me tell you, she's got talent, I can tell.  (at least 100 times more soccer talent then her mother had, let me tell you that as well.)

And on an ending note:  Saturday begins "go time".  So here we go!  Any day now...  how long will she take??

Obligatory Pictures.

Hi again.  So I got some flak for not posting a picture this last time, so to keep everyone happy, here you go:  The one in the black shirt is from today, the red shirt is from Saturday.

Anyway, Lena's coming up on 37 weeks here... and that's full term!  woohoo, way to go, girl!

Also, I tried to comment about people's coments from my last post and I can't figure out how to comment on my own blog.  How sad is that.  The system won't take my comments and I dont know why!!?!   So anyway, commentors, know that I appreciate your comments and I'm sorry I am incapable of responding.

Ok, more to come later.

Happiest Baby Ever, Or Whatever

So Tuesday night was "How to take care of a real live baby" class.   We practiced swaddling, diapering, burping, bathing, and generally caring for a newborn.  I bet we got a B; a B as in "Better than expected"...  Although, we were using dolls which are infinitely less squirmy (and less alive) then real newborns.  So there you have it.

Yea it was an ok class.  My biggest qualm was due to the instructor.  She was a retired NICU nurse, mother of 6, grandmother of 11, and a certified "happiest baby ever" or something instructor.  She kept on eluding to the fact that she had all these magical tricks to soothe un-soothable babies.  She did not share any of these magical tricks with the class.  She said "Sign up and pay for my Happiest Baby Ever, Or Whatever class and then maybe I'll teach you... if you're lucky."   Maybe she didn't say that in so many words, but still, that was what she meant...  Anyone know any of those magical tricks??

Also, in the past week and a half I've been asked by 3 complete strangers whether or not I'm going to have an epidural.  Complete Strangers.  "So you're getting pretty close there, huh?!" (sly grin)  "yes, yes I am." (weak smile)  "So, you going to have a natural birth or have an epidural?" (judgmental raised eyebrows look) "...yeaaa, I'm just going to see how things go" (piercing "mind your own business" glare.)  and at this point sometimes the conversation is over and sometimes the stranger launches into their own birth/man-birth story like I care to hear all about it.  I do not.  I do not like this person who thinks this is an OK question to ask a complete stranger.  Sheesh, I mean if I know you, that's one thing (even if I've known you for like 20 minutes, it may be a different story), but a complete stranger?!

Ahem.  In other Lena news, today is 1 month til her official due date!  However, we are very anxious to meet her so we're telling her to please come early.  I had an OB appointment today and the midwife says she's like 6lbs and in the proper position.  yay.  And also, all those milkshakes worked 'cause I put on 5lbs since my last appointment 2 weeks ago... unfortunately, now I'm addicted to milkshakes.
