So Sheryl is staying here for a couple days.  That means her super-sweet camera is also staying here for a couple days.  This, along with her fantastic photographic skills, translates into some awesome Lena pictures for me to post on this blog.  Enjoy!

Week 1

Hello, world.

a few things:
1) in the pic above Lena's face could be switched out for one of my baby pics and no one would know the difference, that's crazy!
2) she's a week old today!!
3)  I will keep up this blog and post pictures and little stories

so without further ado, here are some shots of the past few days:

nothing yet.

So here we are.

Still nothing.

Just thought I'd let you know.

On another note however, I've been keeping myself pretty busy which has helped the past few days fly by.  Thanks for the killing-time suggestions.

Any day now.... I guess.

pardon the mild complaining

Just for updated-ness's sake:

As of today, according to the midwife, I am not ready to have a baby.  Not that I am not ready mentally or emotionally or socially (?), but just that physically my baby birthing parts are not "revved up & ready to go" as they say in car language...

The projected due date of July 10 turns out to be just a passing dream.  boo.  I mean I know that SO many people are late with their first babies so it's really not a big deal right?  right.  right...?  It's just rather uncomfortable in the 100 degree weather carrying around a bowling ball in my abdomen while dealing with swollen feat, no energy, and a general lack of things to do to pass the time while waiting around.  Sheesh, what do I usually do with myself during summer vacation?  Oh, not have a baby, that's right.  I think I just need some projects to work on, especially now that everyone's pretty sure it'll be another week at least.  Hmm, maybe I'll start a list of things to do pre-baby right now:

- swim
- bake things for people
- sew something
- invite people over

Ok well, I'm out of ideas now.  Anyone have any more suggestions?  Good ways to pass the time?  Good books?  Good Philadelphia-located non-tiring outings?  anything?

The Waiting Game.

Hola mis amigos y amigas.

So no baby Lena yet... she's taking her time.  Although, who knows- today may be the day.  I certainly hope so.  I get more and more uncomfortable every day that passes.  We've been swimming at the city pools pretty much every day which has definitely made it more bearable.  In the water I no longer feel pregnant.  Out of the water it's a different story.  Last night she was kicking around so much it felt like she was trying to come out through my belly button.... Lena, sorry, it doesn't work that way, girl.

But anyway, still waiting and waiting.  Her room is DONE finally!  Well, i guess we still have to fix the light... but other than that, it's DONE!  and it's so cute.  Eventually I'll put a picture up of it all finished, right now I'm too tired.  Yesterday Sheryl and Dave came down for the 4th and just before dinner the lighting in our house was perfect for some pics so they took some with their awesome camera:

And that's my story.  waiting waiting waiting....
stay tuned
:-)

some stuff...

Hello hello.

So I'm writing again even though it hasn't been a week yet.  oh well.  my blog, my rules.

Anyway, no little girl here yet...  I'm telling her that tomorrow's the day.  I have a lot to do today so that wouldn't work, but tomorrow would be perfect, hear that Lena?  July 2 = good day for someone to be born.  (I like to pretend I'm in control of the whole process, although clearly this is just not the case at all)

Also, here are 2 pics of me & my cousin Matt's wife, Sukey, who is having identical twin girls soon too!  yay!  Mike and I went to visit them yesterday and all the little girlies met in-utero.

I seem to be a lot shorter then I remember as well.  oh well.

So yes, what have we been up to since summer vacation started??  Well, fixing up Lena's room, doing lots of random other house projects that we've put off for months, hanging out with friends, reading up on baby info, swimming @ one of the city pools (LOVE it), and watching soccer.  I also did this little craft project the other day, it's a framed picture collage of all Lena's grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins... which she has quite a lot of already:

I painted the background the same color as her walls and I love how it came out.

Ok, we're off to take The Patch to a doggie park so he can run around on this beautifully cool morning!  Yesterday a dog peed on Mike's leg while we were there.  It was SO FUNNY.
the end.
